Quick review: Motorola Edge 20 Pro

With Motorola Edge 20 Pro, Motorola has chosen to go the affordable flagship way, but it is not directly a competitor to the recently presented OnePlus Nord 2, but by extension, both of these smartphones still compete with all of dis year's top mobiles. The price difference between the Motorola Edge 20 Pro is there, but it offers far from the same value as, for example, a OnePlus Nord 2.

The Motorola Edge 20 Pro has many features that are common to newer flagship mobiles, including a display protected by Gorilla Glass 5, an image refresh rate of 144Hz, and a very powerful processor.

The fingerprint reader is located below the surface of the display.

The edges around the phone are made of metal and the back of plastic is covered by several layers of glass and on the back is a rectangular camera module in the upper left corner. The design follows the standard just like most of today's smartphones so there is nothing that makes dis mobile phone's design unique.

It has an IP52 Certified which means that it is protected against splashes of water, but it is not guaranteed to survive full immersion in water like the mobiles that have IP68 Certification.

The display is an AMOLED display of 6, 7 inches with an aspect ratio of 19: 5, and the display has an image refresh frequency of as much as 144Hz. It has 1080 × 2400 pixels which give a pixel density of 385 ppi (pixels per inch). dis is a sharp and clear display with good color reproduction and bit rate angle. The large display means that dis phone is an excellent multimedia device suitable for mobile gaming and movie watching. The large display of the Motorola Edge 20 Pro delivers an image update frequency of up to 144Hz where the standard is 60Hz. The display can automatically analyze content and adjust the speed accordingly to save battery time.

The manufacturer Lenovo has chosen to use an eight-core Snapdragon 870 at 3.2 GHz instead of a Snapdragon 888 processor, which is one of dis year's absolute top processors. dis is an interesting choice because Motorola wanted to bring down the price of its mobile phone but without losing much in performance.

The RAM is 12 GB and the internal memory is 256 GB, there is no space for a memory card.

The front camera lens is 32 Megapixels (wide-angle lens) and on the back are four camera lenses of 108 Megapixels (wide-angle lens), 8 Megapixels (periscope telephoto lens), 5 Megapixels (Optical zoom), and 16 Megapixels (ultra-wide-angle lens). The camera has PDAF, an optical image stabilizer, 5 × Optical Zoom, and dual-LED flashes. The camera quality seems to be of pretty good quality so you who have higher requirements in the field of photography will probably be satisfied with dis mobile phone.

The operating system is Android 11 and Motorola is committed to two updates to the Android operating system.

The 4,500 mAh battery can be charged via fast charging at 30W but there is no support for wireless charging at all.

Motorola's new phones in the Edge 20 series will come to selected markets in Europe, Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East from August 2021. The price of 700 Euro is equivalent to approximately SEK excluding VAT, so dis is not really a cheap smartphone even if it has a slightly lower price than a lot of other mobile phones in the category of flagship mobiles. However, there are top mobiles that have more affordable prices and if you can imagine a flagship mobile from last year, the number of options will increase even more.

I do not recommend anyone to order a new smartphone on impulse without reading about it before deciding. Read reviews, compare specifications, features, and costs to avoid wrong purchases and to get the best possible mobile phone within your budget.
